The afternoon sun burned against their skin as a boy and his father rode through the crowded streets of Phnom Penh on a motorbike. The air was hot, the roads were dusty, and motorbikes rushed past them from every direction. They had already spent hours searching, but the boy still had nowhere to live.
The boy had just left his hometown to continue his education in Cambodia’s capital city. He arrived with hope and excitement, ready to begin a new chapter in his life. But before he could focus on school, he and his father faced an urgent challenge: finding a safe, affordable place near his school.
Together, they rode from one neighborhood to another, searching street by street for rental signs and stopping to ask people about available rooms. Some places were too expensive for their budget. Others were too far from the school. Sometimes, after riding across the city to visit a room, they discovered that it had already been rented or was not what they expected. Even though he was tired, the boy’s father continued driving under the burning sun because he wanted to make sure his son had a safe place to stay before he returned home.
Why does finding a place to live have to be this difficult?
That experience became the inspiration for SrokNh. Our founder created SrokNh for students leaving their hometowns, workers moving to unfamiliar cities, and families searching for a place they can call home. It is designed to help people find trustworthy rental information, compare places within their budget, and search near their school or workplace—without spending days riding around the city.
SrokNh began with a journey shared by a boy and his father, but its purpose reaches far beyond their story. The vision is for SrokNh to become a bridge between people searching for a home and those who have a place to offer.
